Angels and Demons

No, this presentation is not about Dan Brown’s novel (although the talk entitled "Faith and Reason / Church and Science" does get into that discussion).  Throughout popular culture today, there is a great deal of interest in angels and demons, but much of it is sensationalized or sentimentalized.  This discussion is rooted in Scripture and draws from some of the intellectual giants in Catholic theology and philosophy.

Secular thought today tends to deny the reality of anything beyond the merely material.  Every Sunday, however, we profess God as the maker “of all things, visible and invisible,” and in Scripture we read many descriptions of angels, as well as of Satan and the other fallen angels.  The goal of this presentation is to help us appreciate what we know, and do not know, about these spiritual beings.
